Edgar Ghazaryan blames Armenian authorities for attack
Political activist Edgar Ghazaryan blames the Armenian authorities for an attack against him early on Tuesday.
Ghazaryan, who is critical of Nikol Pashinyan’s administration, was assaulted by two unknown men near his home after returning from a hair salon in the morning.
“They started beating me up and swearing. I did not have time to resist them as I was pushed to the ground and struck in the head. They apparently wanted to kill me,” he told reporters, adding the attackers left the scene after he stopped moving.
He suffered a head injury and bruises and was taken to hospital by a passer-by. The politician was discharged from the hospital after he was given stitches for the head injury.
“I have never had a conflict with anyone. Obviously, this attack was linked exclusively to me political activities. I recently received threats from fake accounts, but ignored them. I am sure that it has been ordered by the authorities,” Ghazaryan said.
