New technologies installed in Koti borde village – Viva-MTS

Koti, having a frontline stretching for about 38 km, is a borderland village living as a human shield in the sight of the enemy, and developing its infrastructure with the support of long-time partners. Yet another program with modern technological solutions has been launched in this village in Tavush Province of Armenia. The number of the village streets illuminated with LED lights is expected to increase by the end of this year.

Partners promoting the introduction of new technologies in the regions, Viva-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), have supported the people of Koti for four years to make the future of the young generation better. In 2019, with the use of new technologies, 1,600 m of roads were illuminated, in 2020 - 1,450 m, and in 2021 - 550 m. To date, 2,600 m of roads have been illuminated, and 94 LED floodlights have been installed, Viva-MTS reported on Wednesday,

In order to increase the efficiency of the regular project, the community has joined in the digging of the designated areas for the electric poles. The ongoing works have added some fun in the lives of the future owners of the village, the children. Eight-year-old Allen, who is a full user of his mobile phone and learns about the developments of the world on screens, is surprised and a little confused by the gap between capital bathed in lights in the night time and his native Koti. According to the current year’s plan, 53 LED floodlights will be installed by the end of the year, and a 2 km long road will be illuminated, including the street leading to the village stadium.

Viva-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) have already launched a new 17.5kWh solar photovoltaic plant in Koti, the energy produced by which will enable the drinking water pump to operate at no additional cost. The new photovoltaic station will provide the electricity consumed by the lighting system of the 2 km street near the area.

“Savings are noticeable, the program is effective. Thanks to new technologies, lighting takes up a lot of space. This allows the saved funds to be directed to the solution of other problems. This program has strategic importance for us. All the streets of our village are visible from the enemy's observation post. It has a psychological effect. Seeing illuminated districts, the enemy keeps himself alert. This is important for a resident living on the border,” the administrative head of Koti Andranik Hakhverdyan noted.

The effectiveness of the modern lighting system operating in Koti will justify itself not only in terms of saving money, but also in terms of quality of light. Owing to the four-year project, by the end of the year, the illuminated road section in the village will reach 5,600 meters.

As an information and telecommunications company, Viva-MTS supports communities by implementing technological and cost-effective infrastructure solutions, using environmental, energy-saving modern technologies that allow consuming 80% less electricity, providing higher lighting.

In 2022, Viva-MTS invested more than 120 million AMD for the development of infrastructure in different communities of Armenia.
