Former Yerevan district head eyes mayor's post
The former head of Yerevan's Arabkir administrative district, Hovhannes Shahinyan, has announced a run for Yerevan mayor in the 2023 elections.
“As the founder of the Yerevan 2805 initiative, I have decided to run for Yerevan mayoral office in next year’s elections to the City Council,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
He unveiled plans to start meetings and consultations with heads of NGOs, political parties and public figures in Yerevan to form a “strong group of intellectual candidates for the City Council.”
“I will provide further details in the near future and will present all the programs that I and many other residents of Yerevan want to have in place in the capital,” Shahinyan said.
