Azerbaijan blocks recovery of Armenian soldiers' bodies, ombudswoman says
Azerbaijan has still not allowed the recovery of Armenian soldiers' bodies from the territories occupied by it during the mid-September hostilities, Human Rights Defender Kristinne Grigoryan told reporters on Thursday.
She claims the Defense Ministry knows of specific locations where the bodies of Armenian soldiers are lying.
“According to the information provided to us, Azerbaijan is still impeding the recovery of bodies,” Grigoryan said.
At the same time, she said the number of missing Armenian servicemen is changing as a result of an ongoing identification of the bodies of those killed in the September 13-14 Azerbaijani attacks as well as the repatriation of prisoners of war.
"There can be clarifications, which is a normal process," Grigoryan said, referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest statement that 29 Armenians missing from the Azerbaijani aggression remain unaccounted for, whereas he put the number of missing persons at 30 at the CIS summit in Astana last week.
