Ultimate goal of U.S. is peaceful resolution between Armenia, Azerbaijan – State Department
The ultimate goal of the United States is a peace settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel told a press briefing on Wednesday.
His comments came in response to a question about whether the deployment of an EU monitoring mission alongside Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan would help bring longtime peace to the region.
“That is our hope. And that is something that the Secretary and Ambassador Reeker and others from in this building continue to push for as they discuss this issue. I don’t want to get ahead of that process, but of course our ultimate goal here is a peaceful solution and resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Patel said.
