Businessman Ruben Vardanyan will take up the post of Artsakh’s state minister in early November, he said in a statement on Thursday.

“I am deeply concerned about the political developments unfolding around Armenia and Artsakh and the escalating situation over the settlement of the Artsakh conflict, which the fates of both Armenia and the Armenian world depends on,” he said.

“I realize that there is no more time to contemplate, and in the current situation I cannot help but stand with the people of Artsakh and take my share of responsibility for Artsakh’s future.”

Vardanyan said meetings and contacts with political and public figures, representatives of different districts and social groups in Artsakh over the past one and a half months showed that many people backed his candidacy for the state minister’s post and considered him as a “responsible leader able to consolidate all healthy forces and lead the efforts to get the country out of the crisis.”

“I will officially assume the post of Artsakh State Minister in early November when I will present our strategic goals, the priority issues as well as the upcoming steps. I will continue the meetings aimed at forming the team and settling up plans until the end of October,” reads the statement.
