Lawyer: Judge Arusyak Aleksanyan's assistant also arrested
A court in Yerevan ordered the arrest of judge Arusyak Aleksanyan's assistant after she was remanded into custody, her attorney Yerem Sargsyan said on Friday.
"The court ruled to arrest judge Arusyak Aleksanyan’s assistant as well,” he wrote on Facebook, calling the decision “totally unjustified”.
Arusyak Aleksanyan is accused of making an illegal decision in a trial presided over by her.
The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) gave the greenlight for the judge’s prosecution and arrest sought by the chief prosecutor on 17 October.
The SJC suspended the judge on Thursday pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings against her.
