Aliyev 'hopes' Armenia will sign peace deal with Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed hope that Armenia will sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, which “would help establish peace in the region”, Sputnik Azerbaijan reports.
"We have already submitted five basic principles to Armenia and we hope that Armenia will show political will, start peace talks and sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. If this happens, peace will prevail in the South Caucasus," Aliyev told a press conference after talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Mukhrani.
According to him, it will create new opportunities for cooperation, including regional cooperation.
Aliyev added that Azerbaijan “is ready to sign the peace treaty if Yerevan agrees to it.”
