Stage director Vahe Shahverdyan dies at 77
Stage director and People's Artist of Armenia Vahe Shahverdyan has passed away at the age of 77, his son, director and screenwriter Suren Shahverdyan, broke the news on social media on Monday.
Vahe Shahverdyan was born in Vanadzor, Soviet Armenia on August 19, 1945.
In 1971 he graduated from the Yerevan Arts and Theater Institute.
From 1973-1996, Shahverdyan was the artistic director of the Vanadzor Drama Theater. From 1996 to 2008, he headed the Sundukyan Drama Theater in Yerevan.
In 1995-1999, he served as a parliament deputy.
Vahe Shahverdyan directed 85 theater plays, many of which have been successfully performed in numerous countries.
