'All is not lost': Armenian analyst comments on Russia's peace plan
Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan has touched on a peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan proposed by Russia, stating that it is more beneficial for Artsakh than the Western-backed peace plan.
“Basic principles and parameters for establishing interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan: This is how the Russian-drafted document on the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization is called,” he wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.
“Do you think the document makes any mention of Artsakh? I think no. And this may not necessarily be a bad thing just because the alternative document recognizes Artsakh as a part of Azerbaijan.
“Nikol [Pashinyan] has agreed to both versions. He's not hiding it as he doesn't care about whether Artsakh exists or not.
“But, of course, Artsakh does exist. No matter how hard Aliyev and Pashinyan try to turn a blind eye, for example, to the October 30 rally in Stepanakert and the messages sent from there, Artsakh’s future remains the most important issue in our region, which cannot be ignored.
“Accordingly, sooner or later, someone will have to deal with it. This means that all is not lost yet. We simply have to oust the traitor and capitulator as soon as possible and finally stand up for our national interests,” Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
