Yerevan court postpones hearing in Kocharyan's case for two weeks
The Yerevan first instance court of general jurisdiction on Tuesday postponed a hearing in the case involving former President Robert Kocharyan and opposition Hayastan bloc MP Armen Gevorgyan, who formerly served as deputy prime minister, for two weeks.
The decision was made due to the absence of Gevorgyan’s lawyer, Lusine Sahakyan, for health reasons, Kocharyan’s legal team said.
“Given that the court had allowed Armen Gevorgyan to leave the country for a PACE session on November 6-10, the hearing was rescheduled for November 15,” it added.
Kocharyan is accused of receiving bribes from businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan while in power. He denies any wrongdoing, calling the charges politically motivated.
