Erdogan extends Turkish military mandate in Nagorno-Karabakh
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday approved the extension of the Turkish military’s mandate in the Turkish-Russian Joint Observation Center in Nagorno-Karabakh for one year, Gazeta reported, citing the Turkish media.
The Turkish troops will continue to fulfill their international obligations, including monitoring of compliance with the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, it said.
The new mandate will take effect on November 17. The bill was passed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on Tuesday.
On November 11, 2020, the Russian and Turkish defense ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a joint monitoring center in Karabakh.
