Opposition MP: 'Siege' of Armenia continues
Communications and settlements in Armenia’s Syunik Province have become more exposed following the Azerbaijani attack in mid-September, according to MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction.
“I have repeatedly talked about the Azerbaijani advancements towards some parts of the Gorayk-Goris road, which pose major threats,” he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
“The situation is rather dangerous also on the road connecting Kapan, Chakaten, Shikahogh, Srashen, Nerkin Hand and Tsav, i.e. the second highway connecting Kapan with Iran.
“Despite the authorities’ claims that they are building bypass roads after Azerbaijan took control of the main road leading to Chakaten, the so-called alternative road currently operational is, in fact, also in the vulnerability zone,” Abrahamyan said.
He underlined that the alternative road was not used during the September 13-14 Azerbaijani aggression as the Azerbaijani military opened fire at vehicles passing along it.
A huge section of the republican highway linking Kapan to Nerkin Hand and Tsav villages is in Azerbaijan's line of sight, threatening their normal life and development, the MP stressed.
“The siege of Armenia continues and the ring around us is tightening, while the authorities are busy with shifting the blame for their failures onto various centers of power and the international community,” he stated.
