Sharon Stone says doctors found ‘large fibroid tumor’ after misdiagnosis
Sharon Stone revealed Tuesday that her doctors found a “large fibroid tumor” after she was misdiagnosed and given the wrong treatment, the New York Post reported.
Now, she’s urging women to always seek a second medical opinion.
The “Basic Instinct” star wrote on Instagram that she was treated with a “double epidural” but was still in considerable pain, so she sought out another medical professional.
Stone revealed that the second set of doctors found “a large fibroid tumor that must come out.”
“Ladies in particular: Don’t get blown off GET A SECOND OPINION, It can save your life,” wrote the 64-year-old actress.
“I’ll be down for 4-6 weeks for full recovery. Thx for your care. It’s all good.”
This isn’t the first time the “Catwoman” star had to go through a surgical procedure.
According to her memoir “The Beauty of Living Twice,” doctors were forced to remove benign tumors that she said were “gigantic, bigger than my breast alone” in 2001.
Stone also revealed that she had suffered a stroke as well as a cerebral hemorrhage the same year.
