Syrian air force eliminates 93 Al-Nusra militants
The Syrian air force launched an attack on a base belonging to Jabhat Al-Nusra terrorist group killing 93 militants and injuring over 100 others, according to Maj. Gen. Oleg Yegorov, deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation in Syria.
He said the operation came in response to a previous terrorist attack carried out by the militant group against positions of the Syrian Arab Army in Latakia, Al Mayadeen reported.
"As a result of the attack, a training camp for militants and underground shelters of illegal armed groups in the area of the settlement of Ashkhani-Takhtani were destroyed. Ninety-three militants were liquidated, including field commanders. 135 members of the terrorist group were seriously injured," Yegorov stated.
The Russian general added that a workshop that was used to assemble drones belonging to the terrorists was also destroyed in the strikes, along with around 40 drones, that were meant to be used against Syrian and Russian armed forces.
