Former MP calls for fundamental overhaul of Armenian opposition
Former Hayastan bloc MP Artur Ghazinyan calls for a fundamental overhaul of the Armenian opposition, saying it needs new protest tactics and leaders.
"There is a huge untapped protest potential in Armenia currently,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday. “The opposition must be fundamentally overhauled in terms of its structure, proposals and leaders.”
“We need the right team, acceptable and understandable proposals, a charismatic, decisive leader, competent and well-calculated actions, and we ourselves will be surprised at the number of people taking to the streets.
“If we succeed in doing this, the government in Armenia will change in a matter of days,” Ghazinyan said.
His comments came after Armenia’s opposition groups organized a rally in support of Artsakh in Yerevan’s France Square on Saturday, warning the Armenian authorities against new concessions to Azerbaijan.
