Army chiefs of CSTO countries to discuss defense cooperation
The chiefs of the general staff of the armed forces of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states will hold a video conference on November 10 to discuss defense cooperation, CSTO Joint Staff Spokesman Vladislav Shchegrikoviсh told TASS on Tuesday.
"The chiefs of the general staff of the armed forces of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov and CSTO Deputy Secretary General Takhir Khairuloyev will take part in a meeting chaired by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and Russian First Deputy Defense Minister Army General Valery Gerasimov who heads the military committee," Shchegrikoviсh said.
He added that the parties would discuss "challenges and threats to military security in the regions of the CSTO’s collective security and measures to counter them, the development of the CSTO’s peacemaking potential, including in terms of participation in the United Nations’ peacekeeping efforts, ways to improve the organization’s effectiveness and provision of international flights of state military aircraft from CSTO member states, as well as a number of other pressing issues."
