Ruling faction MP: Armenia must be ready for continued Azeri provocations
The salaries of Armenian contract servicemen who successfully pass the voluntary certification will increase to 315,000 drams, MP Armen Khachatryan of the ruling Civil Contract party told reporters in the parliament on Monday, adding the wages will be higher in case of combat duty.
Touching on Monday’s debates on the bill "On Military Service and Status of Servicemen" at a session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense and Security, the deputy said it would allow a conscript to start a five-year contract service after 6 months of compulsory military service.
Referring to Azerbaijan’s recent ceasefire violations on the border with Armenia and Artsakh, Armen Khachatryan said: "The Azerbaijani military has always resorted to border provocations and there is nothing surprising about it. I think that they will continue in the near future as well and we must be ready for it all. We must be fully ready as Azerbaijan may resort to any scenario.”
