Opposition MP comments on Armenian parliament boycott
Armenia's opposition factions boycotted the parliament sessions that did not focus on pressing issues, Hayastan bloc MP Gegham Manukyan told reporters on Monday.
He claimed despite the parliament boycott announced by the opposition earlier this year, they remained engaged in debates on important matters.
“We never left the parliament in the first place to return now,” he said. “We have just announced a boycott of plenary sessions, saying we will attend debates on issues high on our agenda, including military, security and Artsakh-related matters.”
He recalled that the opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions announced the parliament boycott after the parliament majority rejected their proposal to pass a statement outlining Armenia’s red lines in negotiations with Azerbaijan at a special session.
Manukyan says the opposition will continue to call special sessions to discuss challenges.
