RPA deputy head says banned from leaving Armenia
The deputy chairman of the opposition Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Armen Ashotyan, says he has been banned from leaving the country.
He was set to travel to Lisbon, Portugal to attend a conference of the European People's Party but was not allowed to take a flight from Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport early on Wednesday.
“Going through passport control at the airport, I was told to be banned from leaving Armenia on the ridiculous grounds that I was a defendant in some case,” Ashotyan wrote on Facebook.
“Absurdly enough, I have not been charged as part of any case up to now,” he added.
