Armenian MP: Azerbaijan increasing border tensions
Azerbaijan has stepped up its provocations against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Armenian MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem bloc said on Thursday.
His comments came after Azerbaijani troops opened indiscriminate fire at Artsakh farmers carrying out agricultural work on a field in the Amaras Valley on Wednesday.
“While the Azerbaijani provocations mostly targeted the Askeran region last week, they were carried out against the Amaras Valley on Wednesday, when Azerbaijani forces opened indiscriminate fire at civilians working on a field,” the deputy wrote on Facebook.
He also pointed to Azerbaijani reports falsely accusing the Artsakh army of ceasefire violations actively disseminated in recent days.
Azerbaijan has also intensified ceasefire violations on border with Armenia, at the same time reinforcing its military positions in the occupied territories of the country, he underscored.
“Azerbaijan is thus gradually increasing tensions, and it's not clear what the final consequences will be,” Abrahamyan said, accusing the Armenian leadership of failure to counter the Azeri threats.
