Armenian expert hails Iran's 'overarching' policies
Iran specialist Vardan Voskanyan has reacted to a protest held outside the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran on Thursday, saying the young Iranian activists denounced, among other things, repressions and “white" genocide against the Talysh people in Azerbaijan.
“As a superpower in the Middle East, Iran plans and acts in compliance with a much more overarching strategy,” he wrote on Telegram.
“In particular, while Baku’s dictatorial regime controlled by Ankara is pushing for the notorious "Turkish corridor" aimed at severing the overland link between Armenia and Iran, Iran is methodically preparing a multi-step operation to send the so-called "corridor" to hell.
“It will not only defend the thousand-year-old border between Armenia and Iran, but also will ensure an influential Iranian presence in the southern Talysh-populated areas of the artificial entity called Azerbaijan and in Nakhichevan.
“Such a strategy is, in fact, exemplary, because if you want to suppress the brazen claims of the enemy to Artsakh and Syunik, that enemy must, figuratively speaking, get other Artsakh-like problems in several parts of its territory, which is a prison for indigenous peoples, the end result being the dissolution of this artificial entity into several natural states,” Voskanyan said.
