Kazakh President Tokayev wins re-election
Incumbent Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has won the country's November 20 snap presidential elections, securing 81.31% of the vote, Interfax reported, citing Kazakh Central Elections Commission (CEC) Chairperson Nurlan Abdirov.
"Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev has received 81.31% of the vote," Abdirov said summing up the elections' final results at a CEC meeting.
The CEC members publicly signed the relevant resolution at the commission's meeting.
Tokayev's inauguration ceremony is due to take place on November 26.
"The swearing-in ceremony of President-elect of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev has been set for November 26, 202," Abdirov said.
According to earlier reports, voter turnout in the November 20 elections stood at 69.44%.
