Water tariffs to rise in Armenia from January 1
The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has decided to increase water tariffs in Armenia starting from January 1.
According to a PSRC decision adopted on Tuesday, the new water prices have been set at 208.42 drams per cubic meter instead of the current tariff of 200 drams.
The current tariff of 180 drams a cubic meter will remain unchanged for socially vulnerable groups, the commission said in a statement.
At the same time, PSRC said the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures will neutralize the tariff rise for all households through subsidies.
Earlier, the water supply operator Veolia Djur requested a 9-dram increase in water tariffs for all consumers, citing a high inflation in Armenia.
