Armenia unhappy with current relations with Russia, U.S. envoy says
Armenia is unhappy with the current state of relations with Russia, U.S. President Joe Biden's nominee to be ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, has claimed.
Tracy, a career diplomat and current ambassador to Armenia, testified at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday.
"Coming back to Russia, I think the problem is, and this is what Armenians are saying, they see that some of their previous relations or standing relationships with Russia are not meeting the needs of Armenia today,” she said.
“So I think where we are at right now between the U.S. and Armenia is having some very important conversations about how we can be helpful to Armenia as it continues seeking a more democratic future and a secure future. I will say there are many security challenges there as well that Russia is playing a role and we have to keep and pay attention to," the U.S. diplomat added.
