Official slams closure of Artsakh-Armenia road by Azerbaijanis
An advisor to the Artsakh state minister, Artak Beglaryan, has denounced the shutdown of the Goris-Stepanakert highway as a fresh Azerbaijani provocation.
A group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes blocked the highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia at the intersection of Shushi-Karin Tak earlier on Saturday afternoon, citing "environmental reasons".
The move is aimed at cutting off the sole overland link between Armenia and Artsakh and terrorizing Artsakh's civilian population, the Artsakh InfoCenter said.
"Obviously, this is an attempt to cut off the sole connection between Artsakh and Armenia, which is to be ensured by the Russian peacekeeping troops under the trilateral agreements,” Beglaryan wrote on Telegram.
“Thus, Azerbaijan's actions are detrimental to 120,000 people of Artsakh and the peacekeepers. I hope the land communication will be restored soon," he added.
