Analyst calls out Armenian government's Artsakh policy
Political analyst Suren Sargsyan has called out the current Armenian leadership’s policy on Artsakh.
“Obviously, the key priority of the Armenian authorities is to cling to power at any cost, which is normal for any government that has crossed all red lines,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
“The Armenian leadership’s stance on Artsakh is the following: “Dear Moscow, I don't need Artsakh, if you need it, so keep it (that's why they say that any status of Artsakh outside of Azerbaijan is impossible).
“There is also a very important nuance: the authorities need Artsakh people to stay in Artsakh (that's why they talk about the security of the Artsakh Armenians).
“Thus, the authorities are solving three problems at once:
1. They provide grounds for the stay of the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh;
2. They don’t assume additional social responsibilities for the housing of 100,000 Artsakh people in Armenia;
3. They avoid additional threats to their rule posed by 100,000 people.
“Notably, the combination to surrender Artsakh is the only process in our foreign policy that is multi-step and carefully planned. The rest is a series of one-step failures,” Sargsyan stated.
