Four opposition members take up parliament seats
Four members of the opposition Hayastan alliance have agreed to take up the vacant parliament seats.
At a special meeting on Thursday, Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) signed protocols to allocate the parliament seats to Mher Sahakyan, Arpine Vardanyan, Arman Ghazaryan and Irina Gasparyan who ran for the National Assembly on the Hayastan bloc’s list at the 2021 snap elections.
The seats remained vacant after Hayastan MPs Aram Vardevanyan, Vahe Hakobyan, Hripsime Stambulyan and Yelena Kirakosyan resigned from the National Assembly in November. The latter are members of the Resurgent Armenia party, which is part of the Hayastan alliance.
