Armenian, Russian and Azeri chief prosecutors meet in Moscow
A trilateral meeting between Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan and Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev was held in Moscow on Thursday.
Greeting his colleagues, Krasnov thanked them for their readiness to enhance a professional dialogue in a trilateral format, the Russian Prosecutor’s Office reported.
Noting Anna Vardapetyan's recent assumption of the post, Igor Krasnov qualified the trilateral meeting as a good opportunity to get acquainted with her personally.
"I believe engaging in dialogue is the only effective way to achieve the long-sought mutual understandings on the settlement of the border conflict and other problems facing the prosecutor's offices of our countries," said Igor Krasnov.
In this regard, he outlined his vision of the main tasks of law enforcement agencies, particularly the prosecutor's offices: to combine forces and resources, synchronize further action to counter the growing threats to security, restore law and order, normalize citizens' lives and prevent escalation of tensions.
“As true servants of the law, we must ensure normal conditions for people’s life and development, protecting them from the destructive influence of criminals,” the Russian official said. “I have issued relevant orders for my subordinates – military prosecutors.”
Igor Krasnov expressed confidence that the meeting would be “another strong step towards the achievement of these lofty goals.”
