Minister comments on decision to withdraw benefits for displaced Artsakh Armenians
Any program concerning the Artsakh people is implemented as a result of discussions with Artsakh's leadership, Armenian Labor and Social Affairs Minister Narek Mkrtchyan told a news briefing outside the government building on Thursday, assuring that no program had been implemented without consultations with the Artsakh government.
His comments came in response to a reporter’s request to explain the Armenian government’s decision to cancel the payment of benefits worth 40,000 drams to the Armenians displaced from Artsakh during the 2020 war starting from September.
"The problem is that any program is implemented exclusively within the budget approved by Armenia. In other words, if it is decided that any program should be implemented in Artsakh, it will be carried out within this budget, in line with the budgetary planning," the minister replied and went away, ignoring the journalists' calls for a clear response.
