Armenian MP: Azerbaijan engaged in systematic provocations against Artsakh
Azerbaijan has launched a systematic provocation campaign against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Armenian security expert Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP from the opposition Pativ Unem faction, says.
He highlighted after Azerbaijan’s false allegations that Armenia delivered weapons to Artsakh through the Lachin corridor connecting the two countries last month, discussions on X-ray inspection of trucks entering Karabakh from Armenia with involvement of the Azerbaijanis started.
“After the launch of a disinformation campaign over “violations” in mining activity in Artsakh two weeks ago, Azerbaijan stepped up pressure to monitor and control the field. Later, officials of the country’s Ministry of Ecology discussed their demands with the command of the Russian peacemaking troops in Artsakh twice,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
“Azerbaijan’s fresh propaganda suggests that two Iranian subversive groups of 13 and 14 people have allegedly entered Artsakh through the Lachin corridor and are preparing operations against Azerbaijan. It's still hard to predict what will follow this barrage of disinformation, but it's now obvious that Azerbaijan has launched a systematic provocation campaign against Artsakh.
“In a "defensive" reaction, the Armenian authorities only announce that Artsakh is a zone of Russian peacekeepers’ responsibility, the Russians are to blame for it and they can only express regret over the situation.
“The "mines" planed by Azerbaijan do explode in the face of weak Russian countermeasures, but the role of an outside observer taken by the Armenian authorities is simply hostile towards their own people,” the deputy stated.
