Five patients require urgent transfer from Artsakh to Armenia, says hospital director
Five patients in Stepanakert’s Republican Medical Center in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) need to be urgently transferred to Yerevan for further treatment, the executive director of the hospital, Mher Musayelyan, told Panorama.am on Tuesday.
“Three of them must be immediately transferred to the Armenian capital. Two of the patients are in the intensive care unit, one of them is in critical condition, while the two others are in grave stable condition, but they also need to be moved to Armenia," he said.
One of the patients is hooked up to a ventilator as he has developed acute asthma, pneumonia and hypoxemia.
In Musayelyan’s words, one of the patients, who is over 60, was to undergo heart surgery today at the Nork-Marash Medical Center in Yerevan after examinations.
"Everything is ready, an agreement has been reached to carry out the operation, but the road is blocked," he said.
The Stepanakert Republican Medical Center is not short of medicine or medical supplies at this point, however the hospital will be facing serious problems if the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia remains closed, the director said.
A group of Azerbaijanis have blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway near Shushi on ostensibly environmental grounds since Monday morning.
