Planned surgeries suspended in Artsakh amid Azerbaijani blockade
Planned surgeries have been suspended in Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) hospitals amid the ongoing Azerbaijani blockade of the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, known as the Lachin Corridor, and the gas supply cutoff.
"Currently, the medical facilities are not short of medicine and medical supplies necessary for first aid. 11 patients are in the intensive care unit of the Republican Medical Center, with two of them in critical condition,” the Artsakh Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.
Some medical centers in Artsakh are being heated with diesel fuel but reserves are scarce, while other hospitals are using electric heaters due to the blocked gas supply.
The ministry said it is taking all possible measures to handle the current situation.
