Armenian parliament majority urges int'l community to stop humanitarian crisis in Artsakh
The pro-government majority in the Armenian National Assembly on Wednesday adopted a draft resolution on the ongoing Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin corridor, the sole road linking Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) to Armenia.
A total 57 MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party endorsed the document at a special session boycotted by the opposition.
The resolution “Humanitarian Crisis Caused by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh” calls on the international community to condemn Azerbaijan in the strongest terms and take measures to prevent the spread of the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The statement also calls on Russia to take all necessary measures to ensure the full implementation of the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping troops.
Earlier on Wednesday, the parliament majority rejected debates on an Artsakh resolution drafted by the opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions.
