Artsakh ombudsman announces more protests outside foreign embassies in Yerevan
The Artsakh Republic’s Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan has announced more protests outside the foreign embassies in Yerevan amid the ongoing Azerbaijani blockade of the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world and the gas supply cutoff.
Citing the international community’s inadequate response to Azerbaijan’s criminal practices, he said protests would be staged outside the U.S., Chinese, French and Russian Embassies as well as the EU Office in Yerevan on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, an advisor to the Artsakh state minister, Artak Beglaryan, started an indefinite sit-in along with several other officials outside the UN Office in Yerevan.
“Later, we will be joining our compatriots protesting outside the UN Office. I will be at all protest sites to present the situation in Artsakh and call for compliance with the key principle of universal human rights,” Stepanyan wrote on Facebook, urging his colleagues from Armenia to join the protests.
