13 severely ill children need urgent transfer from Artsakh to Armenia
The Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia, entered the 10th day on Wednesday.
The blockade was imposed by Azerbaijan on 12 December and has affected 120,000 Armenians, including 30,000 children, who are without access to food, medical supplies and other essential goods.
Around 1,100 people, including 270 children, are currently stranded, unable to return home.
More than 20 severely ill patients, including 13 children, in Artsakh hospitals require immediate transfer to Armenia, the Artsakh InfoCenter reported.
“350 patients have no access to medical care in Armenia. All the scheduled operations have been suspended in Artsakh.
“It’s impossible to deliver 400 tons of food and medicine from Armenia to Artsakh every day. The complete transport blockade threatens a food, medicine and fuel shortage,” it said.
