Spanish Congress urges Azerbaijan to restore free movement through Lachin Corridor
The Spanish Congress of Deputies on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution calling on Azerbaijan to restore free movement along the Lachine Corridor, Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) sole overland link to Armenia, the Armenian Embassy in Spain reported.
The resolution urges the Azerbaijani authorities to ensure free and safe movement through the corridor in line with the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement.
The Congress also calls on the parties to settle their differences through dialogue and negotiations. It urges international organizations to prevent a new humanitarian crisis in the region.
The blockade began on December 12, when a group of Azerbaijanis posing as environmental activists stopped traffic on the road, citing “illegal” mining operations in Artsakh.
