ICRC mediates transfer of seriously ill baby from Artsakh to Armenia
A seriously ill baby has been transported from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which remains blocked by Azerbaijan, to Armenia through the mediation efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Zara Amatuni, ICRC communications manager and spokesperson in Yerevan, told Panorama.am on Saturday.
Amatuni refused to give any other details, only saying the ICRC “has discussed its possible humanitarian support with the sides from the onset of the current situation.”
Earlier, the Artsakh Ministry of Health said the 4-month-old baby suffering from visceral leishmaniasis was in intensive care in a hospital.
Azerbaijan has blocked the Lachin corridor, Artsakh’s sole connection to Armenia and the outside world, since December 12.
