Armenian activists start motorcade rally to blocked Lachin corridor
A group of activists on Monday started a motorcade rally from Yerevan’s Republic Square to the Lachin corridor blocked by Azerbaijan.
The activists are to make a stop in the town of Goris in Syunik Province to give New Year gifts to the Artsakh children stranded in Armenia due to the blockade.
"We will try to negotiate with Armenian police officers and Russian peacekeepers there,” one of the protesters said. “Each of us has to do what we can for Artsakh. We can't just say we love Artsakh and sit idle by. We cannot stay here and wait for something to happen.”
Other people are also expected to join the protest.
For nearly two weeks, Azerbaijani “eco-activists” have blocked the Lachin corridor, Artsakh’s sole land link to Armenia, to protest what they claim is illegal mining.
