Two carrots, half a cabbage for each: Markets in Artsakh save food amid Azeri blockade
Markets in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) have imposed sales restrictions for customers amid food shortages following the Azerbaijani blockade of Artsakh’s lifeline road.
“Markets allow each customer to purchase two carrots and half a cabbage. You can’t buy more as the others will stay hungry,” Arusyak Poghosyan, a local resident, wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
“Pharmacies have run out of antipyretics for children and baby formulas,” she added.
For over two weeks, large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor, the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, to protest what they claim is illegal mining.
