334 women killed by men in Turkey in 2022
334 women were murdered by men in Turkey in 2022, according to an annual report published on Monday by the We Will Stop Femicides Platform (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu).
154 women were killed by their husbands and 226 women died under suspicious circumstances, the report revealed.
Femicides and violence against women are serious problems in Turkey, where women are killed, raped or beaten every day, SCF reports. Many critics say the main reason behind the situation is the policies of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government, which protects violent and abusive men by granting them impunity.
