Armenian MP calls for 'non-standard' action to end Artsakh blockade
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem bloc on Thursday insisted on a regime change in Armenia to resolve the situation around the Lachin corridor, the sole road connecting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia blocked by Azerbaijan for over three weeks.
He blamed the Armenian government’s policies for the road blockade, saying the change of Armenia’s top negotiator would “open the door” to new contacts with Armenia’s allies, consensus around primary issues inside the country, reshaping of the state administration system, as well as a radical overhaul of the security system.
The lawmaker believes the Artsakh authorities should take "non-standard" measures to deal with the difficult situation following the Azeri blockade.
“First, Artsakh has to reject the rules of the game imposed by Azerbaijan,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook, adding "compromises should be made only when Azerbaijan's moves are limited."
“Second, Artsakh has to take non-standard action that would mix up the possible scenarios of the engaged international actors and Azerbaijan,” he added.
