JK Rowling got £18 million payout from Harry Potter publishing company
JK Rowling received £18million from her publishing company in one year, it has been revealed.
The Harry Potter author received the staggering sum in 2022 as a dividend for her shares in her company, Pottermore, Daily Mail reports.
The 57-year-old has become the target of a boycott by trans rights activists over his stances on women's rights and single sex spaces.
Despite this Pottermore, which is her digital publishing company, made a pre-tax profit of £5.7 million on a turnover of £37.8 million in the 12 months to March 2022.
In December the multi-millionaire author remarked that contrary to being 'cancelled' by her opponents, her book sales go up when they lash out at her.
In an interview for Letters from Suzanne, a Substack publication by writer and columnist Suzanne Moore, the author said: 'The only time I've ever made reference to being cancelled, my book sales went up.
'Why am I even laughing? I can't believe I'm saying these words. But you have to mock them. I do not consider myself cancelled.'
The public backlash against the author's views started in March 2018, when Ms Rowling was criticised for liking a tweet which referred to trans women as 'men in dresses'.
Since then she has faced a barrage of abuse from activists branding her transphobic for her views.
