Azerbaijan may resort to military settlement of problems, Armenian MP warns
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction warns that Azerbaijan may resort to military action to solve its problems.
He highlighted the Azerbaijani military leadership’s visits to army facilities at the end of 2022 and inspection of its troops’ combat readiness in military units in early 2023.
“At this point, Azerbaijan has selected the most inhumane way of pressure on Artsakh, which does not rule out a military solution of problems,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
"Local military actions are most likely, which, depending on the developments, may escalate into large-scale hostilities,” the lawmaker opined.
Abrahamyan says Azerbaijan’s possible military aggression may target Armenia’s territory rather than Artsakh.
“Azerbaijan could shift the blackmail towards Armenia, where it has formed a bridgehead to develop successes after expansionist actions over the last two years in an effort to step up pressure [on the authorities],” the MP wrote.
“For Azerbaijan, there is no separate issue of Artsakh and Armenia, but a goal to remove the Armenian issue from the agenda forever," he added.
