Artsakh children stranded in Armenia to have access to education, minister says
The children from Artsakh who are stranded in Armenia due to the ongoing Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin corridor, the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, will be provided with access to education, says Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.
“Schools and kindergartens should have resumed normal operations on January 9. However, amid the blockade of the Lachin corridor, Artsakh’s kindergartens, preschools and daycares cannot function due to food shortages,” she wrote on Facebok on Saturday.
“This is unacceptable and violates the fundamental rights of tens of thousands of children. We are taking the necessary measures to submit these violations to the relevant international organizations.
“At the same time, the Artsakh children stranded in Armenia will be provided with access to education after the end of winter vacations, starting from 9 January,” the minister said.
