Azerbaijani media reports confirm Artsakh blockade – Prosecutor's Office
Azerbaijan's pro-government media have spread reports falsely claiming that Artsakh is not blockaded, however the reports prove the opposite, the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the Azerbaijani media reports, during the nearly month-long blockade of the Stepanakert-Goris highway linking Artsakh to Armenia, 370 vehicles passed along the road in both directions. 330 of them were reportedly owned by the Russian peacekeepers, 31 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), including ambulances, and three ambulances by “Artsakh residents”.
“In order to debunk the false Azerbaijani narrative, it is simply necessary to release three statistical data: before the blockade of the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, the Stepanakert-Goris road, according to data of November 2022, between 380 to 400 tons of food and other necessities of life were supplied from Armenia to Artsakh on a daily basis (10,260 to 10,800 tons in 27 days), an average of 454 vehicles (12,258 in 27 days) and more than 1,200 people (32,400 in 27 days) traveled from Armenia to Artsakh every day. It is worth noting that the figures are lower not only compared to the pre-2020 war period, but also the required demand for ensuring the average level of welfare of the 120,000 population,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.
“The Azerbaijani media reports also confirm that the people of the Artsakh Republic are deprived of the opportunity of moving along the corridor and connection with the Republic of Armenia; only Russian peacekeepers and ICRC members traveled along the corridor.
“Thus, these statistical data and arguments vividly and clearly reflect the current situation in Artsakh, which Azerbaijan desperately tries to hide from the international community,” reads the statement.
