Armenian envoy: Azerbaijan must respect international law
Azerbaijan must unblock the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia, and release Armenian prisoners of war (POWs), Armenia’s Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan reiterated on Tuesday.
“Azerbaijan keeps 120K people of Nagorno Karabakh under siege for a month, and Armenian POWs for over 2 years, violating international law,” he said in a tweet.
“Azerbaijan must lift the blockade of Lachin Corridor and release the POWs. International law must be respected no matter how much gas & oil you have,” Marukyan stressed.
Large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the corridor since 12 December to protest what they claim is illegal mining.
