Opposition MP slams 'politically motivated' raids on ARF members' homes
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Armenia chair and an opposition Hayastan bloc MP, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, has denounced the raids on the homes of a number of ARF activists on Wednesday morning, calling them “politically motivated”.
“Law enforcement officers burst into the homes of a number of ARF members in Ararat Province and Yerevan early this morning, at around 7am, for alleged searches. Some have been detained,” the deputy wrote on Facebook.
They also searched the house of ARF activist Gerasim Vardanyan, who was recently released from custody after “six months of illegal arrest”, Saghatelyan said.
“The law enforcement agencies remain a blunt instrument used by the government of traitors to solve political issues,” he said, adding Hayastan MPs were set to visit the detained activists.
