Order of Malta leader concerned about humanitarian situation in Artsakh
Fra’ John Dunlap, Lieutenant of the Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, expressed deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) blocked by Azerbaijan.
“We are deeply concerned also about the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and should do our best to safeguard freedom and security of movement between Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said, addressing the diplomatic corps accredited to the Sovereign Order of Malta on Tuesday.
“The Order of Malta encourages Armenia and Azerbaijan to work for a peaceful solution of their disputes,” Dunlap added.
Large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor, Artsakh’s sole land link with Armenia, since 12 December to protest what they claim is illegal mining.
