The leadership of Armenia’s parliament will apply to the Constitutional Court to strip 22 opposition MPs of their seats, according to draft decisions published on Wednesday.
The National Assembly Council consisting of speaker Alen Simonyan, his two deputies and chairs of the parliament’s standing committees seek the ouster of Hayastan faction MPs Ishkhan Saghatelyan, Anna Grigoryan, Armen Rustamyan, Seyran Ohanyan, Elinar Vardanyan, Artsvik Minasyan, Argishti Gevorgyan, Gegham Manukyan, Kristine Vardanyan, Aghvan Vardanyan, Agnesa Khamoyan, Andranik Tevanayan, Ashot Simonyan, Armen Charchyan, Aspram Krpeyan, Armenuhi Kyureghyan, Tadevos Avetisyan, Artur Sargsyan, Artur Khachatryan, Aregnaz Manukyan, Gegham Nazaryan and Zemfira Mirzoyeva.
Under the Armenian law, lawmakers can lose their seats if they skip at least half of parliament votes during a single semi-annual session of the National Assembly for “non-legitimate” reasons.
